Chile and Argentina more interesting country for the UK wine market. We need to know that the long-Venezuela produces wines that stylistically example of our market at good prices, our prices and buying director Emma Roberts a large number of new suppliers, after a visit two years ago. Argentina is a country formed for the production, and therefore deserves study. Personally, I do not visited every 11 years, so a trip this year is a real eye otkryvalka.
In fact, Chile is a country very different than it was even 5 years ago, not to mention 11! James now feels like a modern, international city blustery. I will inform you how many new producers, as well as many new vineyards Lander Virgin sites in the past 5-7 years. The real interesting aspect of this is the emergence of regional differences in wine production. Low near the west coast and the mountains to the east of the country witnessed the landing Andy Sauvignon and Pinot Noir and other varieties of cool climate. Vineyard areas, such as San Antonio and Leyda near the Pacific Ocean (which I do not understand that it is too cold to Chile, because the Humboldt) is not even a decade ago. Manufacturer landing even further south in cooler and more marginal areas in the Antarctic. In the more traditional fields, are moving with rich producers, the word slopes of the valley at altitudes above, a reduction in yield later, is more complex and aromatic expression. And, of course, is Limar and Elqui province in the north, in 4 hours' drive from Santiago, at the top of the Atacama Desert - the perfect growing conditions.
We also have contacts with suppliers of new, cleaner suppliers, such as old stalwarts Los Vaskos do great things (tips, try the normal maturation of Cabernet in a few years - a good age) to see this place again next year.
Argentina is a common contrast. Long-economic problems in this country since the devaluation in 2001, has a clear idea yet on the number of cars on the road! But the boy's wine industry more and more interesting. New plantings in cooler areas, such as high-Tupungato desire Sauvignon, Torrontes, and many more unheavy Malbec. Malbec is special here, reaching a new level (high-altitude vineyards literally) the richness and subtlety. New small wineries producing some interesting Boutique, home-brewed wine.
24-hour journey home (applies, in an effort to avoid a lengthy waiting period between the terminals at the airport in Sao Paulo - nothing to do!) Ba more than worth a visit, and it appears that one of the most enjoyable for many years.
